A couple of images from todays shoot. Margaret was the first winner of the “Fashions on the Field” at the Melbourne Cup in 1962. One of the images will be used in an exhibition to celebrate the 150th running of the cup this year.

Duo Covers

I really enjoyed shooting the covers for Duo Magazine last year. Top image is of Ashley Pillierron a Sports and Exercise Scientist and bottom is Renee Nicol who appeared on the cover of the Christmas edition. Can’t wait to see which girls get selected for the 2010 covers.

My two older boys Dylan and Sascha have created an amazing hip hop album. Most of the music was put together at home on a laptop and their vocals were recorded at a studio on Magnetic Island. This is a shoot we did yesterday at the Consortium night club for some cover images. The whole project should be out on the streets in a few weeks – well done boys now get back to your homework

Christmas in September

I’ve been shooting Christmas adds in Townsville, Rockhampton and Cairns – Feels like Christmas is all over and its time for the new year. This is my “super team” I’m on the left with super assistant Stephen and mega hair & make up, stylist and general best boy (girl) Katrina on the right. We laughed so much for 4 days I’m surprised we got any shots done !

Day at the Races

A great day was had by all at the opening of the winter carnival in Townsville. All the fillies were there in their finest – a little wobbly in high heels by the end of the day.

Lobster Louis

Louis has been hassling me for ages to get some prints from a shoot we did last year. Its just one of those things that got away from me during the last few months. He turned up a few days ago with a fresh lobster that he caught in Nelly Bay. A bit of a sweetener to “pull my finger out”.
So here is the pic which I printed for Louie…+1 cooked the lobster and served it with home made mayonnaise. It was fabulous.

Old School

I had a nice editorial shoot this week. The client wanted a retro look and will later get the retoucher to strip in a new background. Should be interesting to see what they come up with. It was fun and challenging to come up with an “old school” lighting setup. Amazing what you can do to studio lights with a bit of cardboard and tape. Its very satisfying to do something different to the usual soft light approach.

Days Like These

From time to time I complain and grumble with the family about the extra cost and time we spend commuting from home on Magnetic Island to work and school in Townsville.

On days like these I can’t think of a better place in the world to live. This creek with waterfalls and swimming holes is just over the back fence and up in the local mountains. I spent several hours there yesterday playing in the water, photographing and exploring with my boys Dylan, Sascha and Milo.

It makes all that time spent commuting on the ferry well worth it…this is really living the dream.
