Sacred Heart Cathedral

This is the view from my studio – I love been woken up by the sound of church bells in the morning
Winter Light

My favorite time of the year – nice temps and fantastic light. These were shot recently for a commercial assignment in Townsville.
Day at the Races

A great day was had by all at the opening of the winter carnival in Townsville. All the fillies were there in their finest – a little wobbly in high heels by the end of the day.
BOSS (best of student show)

Some great performances by School of Creative Arts students at JCU tonight. Good to see that the arts are far from dead in Townsville. Our project “Landmines” even got a showing at the exhibition.
Cane Toads

Being a photographer might sound like a glamorous profession but its not always like that. I nearly puked taking this image of Cane Toads. The smell was absolutely revolting and stayed on my clothes for the rest of the day. Its was part of a mass round up and extermination of Cane Toads in Townsville. [...]
iphone to blog

Thought I might try and blog from my iPhone. Image also taken on the phone. It’s of number 3 son’s soccer training. I just love the time of day when the natural light is in balance with the artificial light.
North Queensland
Thought I might try this out by embeding a slideshow from my website
Old School

I had a nice editorial shoot this week. The client wanted a retro look and will later get the retoucher to strip in a new background. Should be interesting to see what they come up with. It was fun and challenging to come up with an “old school” lighting setup. Amazing what you can do [...]
Ky-lee & Ashley

I photographed Ky-lee and Ashley’s wedding in Townsville last week. It was a bitter sweet affair as Ashley’s father Mick passed away while on holidays with the family over Christmas. The wedding was planned for later in the year but Ashley decided to move it forward to Mick’s birthday in January. They did an [...]
Days Like These

From time to time I complain and grumble with the family about the extra cost and time we spend commuting from home on Magnetic Island to work and school in Townsville. On days like these I can’t think of a better place in the world to live. This creek with waterfalls and swimming holes is [...]
Hot n’ Sweaty

The rainy season has come early this year and not a moment too soon. It’s been freaking hot up here lately and the rain has brought some relief. No:1 son returned from the UK yesterday after been over there for one year. He played a game of soccer today and nearly collapsed from the combination of heat [...]
The Last Dance

As much as I like “doing weddings” it’s now time for a break till next year. It just gets too hot up here and will be nice to have a bit more weekend family time and not to mention a social life. Tim’s speech was great – a typically nervous grooms effort. He was doing [...]
Nightmare on Ogden Street

Walking back to my studio from a shoot today I came across this… Glass been smashed, belongings on the road below, a woman with blood on her face walking around on the footpath shouting…it was terrifying. The police arrived quickly and the street filled with onlookers. It’s amazing he didn’t fall or jump. At one stage [...]
Sheree & TJ

What a beautiful wedding yesterday. Nice to have a touch of Cook Island culture thrown in. Lots of kids, flowers and great food. I have never seen such a big bridal bouquet…good work Anna.

I found quite a nice font called “dakota” to go on Rebecca’s card. She also wanted Mandarin script…sorry “no can do”
